Please find attached a letter from Mr Doogan regarding the recent ski trip and the concerns around travelling.
Dear Parents,
Some queries/concerns have arisen in relation to our ski trip during midterm. On Sunday morning last I contacted our travel company and the Department of Foreign Affairs. I hope the following information may be of some use.
The Department of Foreign Affairs latest information can be found on their website at: https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/italy/
Our school tour stayed in Dimaro in the region of Trentino. This region does not have restrictions in place currently. Neighbouring regions to the south have done so.
The towns currently with travel restrictions are located approximately 275 km from where we stayed and skied.
Further information from Italy is available at http://www.salute.gov.it/nuovocoronavirus
Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Please be wary of these symptoms and seek immediate medical attention by phone should such symptoms occur (please do not attend a GP or hospital in person without getting in contact by phone first).
Our school arrived in Italy via Venice airport and left via Bergamo airport. Temperature checks took place in Venice upon arrival.
Our ski trip was a most enjoyable school tour for students and staff alike. Thanks to all the staff who took part and particularly Jenna McDaid, the tour leader.
Yours sincerely,
Anthony Doogan
Principal
