Dear Parents

On Thursday and Friday of last week, I visited all the classes in the school to thank them for making the return to school this year so manageable and relatively easy for all of us in the school. Their cooperation was exemplary and it is very much appreciated.

I took the opportunity to remind them of the challenges we face during a pandemic. I asked them to stay at home if they displayed the following symptoms:

  1. A temperature above 38.0 degrees Centigrade.

  2. A persistent hacking cough

  3. Shortness of breath

  4. A recent loss of taste or smell.

I informed them that if these symptoms presented in them while in school they should go to the isolation area and wait to be collected by a household member.

I also reminded them of behaviour that minimized the risk of transmission of COVID 19.

  1. Minimize your social circle

  2. Keep 2m apart where possible.

  3. Wash hands with soap and water

  4. Use sanitizer where soap and water are not available or practical.

  5. Wear a mask/face covering.

I explained that some staff wear visors because they have to communicate with students that use lipreading to communicate.

The government has issued a code of behaviour addition in relation to wearing facemasks.

I repeated my thanks and gratitude for their cooperation.

Please emphasise to your child that their cooperation and behaviour is critical at this time for Donegal.
