First Year Art initiative

This years artist in the classroom initiative was provided by local artist Sinead Smyth. https://www.sineadsmyth.net/

She designed a project based on our well-being, both mentally, emotionally and physically. Sinead's concept circled on sailing analogies where 'we steer our ship in various directions and we encounter many dangers, turns, adventures along the way and we must sail our own course and create individual waves in order to chart our course through life.'

This analogy was brought forward into the final piece which was a large canvas sail from a boat which was painted with individual personal designs created by the each student in first year.

The work is to be completed and hung on the side gable of the school. (Well that's the plan anyway!)
